The landscape of Vestec is first and foremost a unique landscape. The landscape of every settlement is unique and unrepeatable, and this is also true for the village of Vestec. There are places of great value, interesting places, damaged areas and landscapes that are called ordinary or everyday. What makes the landscape of Vestec so special is that it lies on the border of Greater Prague, and the pressure of metropolitan development on the territory of the municipality is enormous. At the same time, the proximity to the big city allows the inhabitants of Vestec to enjoy the advantages of Prague, there are plenty of employment opportunities, better access to education, cultural activities. The inhabitants of Vestec can continue to live in their houses and gardens of village character. There is one big difference between the inhabitants of Vestec and the inhabitants of the true and more distant countryside: the local people are aware of the growth of their village into the organism of the big city and its merging with it, the irreversible disappearance of the original landscape, and they would like to preserve and intensively use what is left. It is their home.
\nThe desire to preserve fragments of the original landscape, to enshrine the protection of this area in the zoning plan and legislation, the possibility to live in the landscape, is the main reason for commissioning this study called Landscape Plan at a time when the preparation of a Landscape Plan is not a mandatory part of the zoning documentation and the methodology of the Landscape Management Concept in the sense of the wording of the Building Act is still not clear.
\nThe preparation of this study is the next part of the work we need to do to restore the landscape. We are at the beginning of this journey. It is also a continuation of the work that has already been done.
