The amended law now bans pyrotechnics within 250 m of protected areas

On Monday, 1 December 2025, an amendment to the Pyrotechnics Act came into force, which, among other things. completely prohibits the use of pyrotechnic products (with the exception of category F1 products), such as the setting off and carrying out of fireworks, within 250 metres of objects such as hospitals, homes for the elderly, shelters, animal facilities and other similar places.

The Ministry of Agriculture has prepared a list of these protected places where pyrotechnics are prohibited from 1 December 2025 as an overview map application (the map loads slowly).

In addition, the municipality of Vestec has the current General Binding Decree No. 1/2021, which designates a single place for the use of fireworks - in K Jahodárně Street near the Agro freezer building, about 100 m from the intersection with Na Spojce Street.

With the approaching Christmas and New Year celebrations, we ask the public to respect this ban and the municipality's General Binding Ordinance.

The amended law also tightens the rules for the sale of pyrotechnics (except for the F1 category) only in brick-and-mortar shops. The least dangerous category, F1, includes e.g. sparklers, small children's fountains or blasting balls (if they can be used indoors), which can be sold from the age of 15.
